Catholic Order Of Foresters

The Catholic Order of Foresters is a fraternal benefit society based in the United States, specifically headquartered in Naperville, Illinois. Founded on 24 May 1883, the organization was set up by a group of Catholics in Chicago, Illinois. The society was originally formed in Illinois but had by 1888 extended its membership beyond the state. While it started with flat all-around death assessment insurance, it later adopted a graded system of assessment insurance. The society has a notable history, paying out over $10 million for death claims and $2.5 million in funeral and sick benefits by June 1908, just 25 years after its founding. In addition to providing insurance, the society also focuses on benevolent cooperation amongst its members. It is currently an active, non-profit entity. It operates within the lines of life and disability insurance.
