First Assurance Life of America is an insurance company that has been rated by AM Best. The company, along with Performance Life of America and Versant Life Insurance Company, has had its Financial Strength Rating affirmed as A- (Excellent) and the Long-Term Issuer Credit Rating (Long-Term ICR) as “a-”. The outlook of these Credit Ratings is stable. All three companies are headquartered in Baton Rouge, LA. However, these ratings have been withdrawn as the companies have requested to no longer participate in AM Best’s interactive rating process. The ratings reflect the companies’ balance sheet strength, categorized as very strong, as well as its adequate operating performance, neutral business profile, and appropriate enterprise risk management. The companies underwrite credit life and credit accident & health products to support the Louisiana Dealers Services Group (LDS). Despite a decrease in premium levels over the last five years and low investment yields, the companies have been a source of net income and have made small, but favorable, premium contributions to the overall group.
