It is the fourth-largest health insurance provider in the U.S. In the 1980s, as the American health care system changed, Humana created its own health insurance plan. As of 2021, the company’s focus has turned towards the home healthcare business, acquiring a majority stake in Kindred at Home, an in-home care and hospice business.
